Jamaica expecting close to two million visitors by year end

As tourism continues its rebound across the world, the demand for Jamaica has been on the increase as well and based on projections, Jamaica should see about 1.6 visitors arrive by year end.

Recently, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, Donovan White, revealed that the growth being experienced since the reopening of the sector has been phenomenal so far. “The growth that we’ve had in 2021 as our first full year of recovery has been phenomenal. Coming from zero in June of 2020 to probably finishing this year round about 1.6 million visitors is a testimony the fact that the people have responded to the destination” he disclosed.

The projections for next year are looking good as well with forward bookings well into May and June of next year. This he accounts to the work of a dedicated team of persons who have been working hard during these challenging times. “We are very bullish about our approach to the marketplace, we have a very dedicated team that has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to put us in this position” he remarked.

The hard work seems to be paying off as in recent times, Jamaica has been one of the top destination for travellers. Recently an article in the acclaimed Forbes magazine revealed that Jamaica has been among the top destinations for travellers since things restarted thanks to a number of factors. Influencing their decision seems to be the ease of travel due to the COVID-19 testing protocols in place as well as the warmth and hospitality that Jamaica has come to be known for.

For Mr White, this should not comes as surprise as Jamaica is no stranger to being featured in top tiered publications such as Forbes. “Its always pleasing but its not new, all the major publications across the world have always written about Jamaica, the product speaks for itself” he remarked.
