Impressive arrival figures for new winter tourist season

The new winter tourist season is now underway as so far things have been looking pretty impressive for the Caribbean island of Jamaica.

According to a tweet from the Ministry of Tourism, on Saturday December 18, Jamaica recorded over nine thousand arrivals at its international airports, the best daily figure since the country reopened its ports following the advent of the coronavirus. This drew an excited response from tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett who remarked “it’s absolutely phenomenal, especially during a pandemic. Saturday’s 9,153 arrivals from 62 flights is the biggest single-day record we have had since the airports were reopened on June 15, last year”.

Information also coming forward is that from Friday, Dec 17th to Sunday, Dec 19th, some 25,000 passengers has made their way through the gates Sangster International Airport (SIA) in Montego Bay which is the tourism hub for the island.

It seems that Jamaica’s efforts at keeping the coronavirus at bay in the tourism sector has been leaving a good impression on visitors who have been including the tropical island as part of their travel plans. The Resilient Corridor initiative has been hailed worldwide as a measure that has made guests feel safe and secure during their time vacationing in Jamaica.
